Are you trying to enable basic authentication but when you go to the IIS Features and click on the Authentication Icon there are no options to do so? You're probably looking in the wrong place. Head to Control Panel > Turn Windows Features on or Off > Click on "Web Server (IIS)" > In Services choose Role Services on the right > Scroll down to Security - Basic Authentication and check the box. > Finish the install. I recently updated from Windows 8 Developer Preview to the full version.
