Is this news to anyone else? I can remember testing Netflix and other services when GoGo first came out, hoping the quality was fair enough to battle through episodes of L O S T and other shows I was interested in. Now, no media can be streamed. Am I the only one who didn’t know? Geez. Now I’ll have to work on the plane. Ouch…
Streaming video from a website requires extensive bandwidth and will not work as well on a plane as it does on the ground. Gogo’s Entertainment on Demand content, available on select aircraft, requires a small amount of bandwidth by accessing video stored on the aircraft.
I’m less outraged and more bummed that full access to everything you want while surfing the web and flying the skies isn’t accessible. Maybe this will change in the future, but right now it looks like streaming media is grounded.
