There are a lot of articles out there that show you how to configure iLO (HP integrated Lights-Out) from the BiOS, but HP eventually learned this was difficult to do during the day when the server needed to be up and provided a Windows based tool. Here are the specs that I’m using for this tutorial:
- Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
- iLO 2
- HP ML350 G6
First, you’ll to download software and drivers. Head to www.hp.com or just go straight to google and do something like “Download iLO Drivers” or just click the link here if you need the same generation. You can choose the OS when you get there: http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=1135772
There are a few things you’ll need to download. Go to Drivers and download the driver:
Just run the install and it will complete, no reboot necessary. After that, grab the Configuration Utility:
Again, install and you’ll be good. You’ll see the new app in your Programs folder and you’ll be able to run it, changing any settings you want:
That should be all you need.
