VEEAM Error: Not Enough Licenses

March 5, 2014 by Dan B. Lee Leave a Comment

Here’s how to quickly fix this error:

I was upgrading a few machines to VEEAM 7 Patch 3 and I received the error “Not Enough Licenses” even though I clearly had plenty of licenses to go around. Licenses are applied by the IP Address of the system you’re attaching the licenses to, also by the network name of the machine. You’ll have to revoke the old licenses before you can continue with the new.

Here’s the VEEAM KB: http://www.veeam.com/kb1470

To Revoke Old Licenses:

  1. Go to Help > License
  2. Click the “Licensed Hosts” Button
  3. Select the hosts you’re upgrading and choose to Revoke

Here’s a screenshot where you’l revoke the licenses:

License Revoke in VEEAM

Every VM in each job will check for licensing. So the next time you run a job it will see if you have licensing, apply the free license, and you’ll go about your merry way.

Cheers!
